GenScript is the world leader in biotechnology reagent service industry that provides life science services and products to scientists in over 100 countries worldwide. Established in 2002 in New Jersey, United States, the company is the leading gene, peptide, protein and antibody research partner for fundamental life science research, translational biomedical research, and early stage pharmaceutical development.

Variant libraries are widely applied for identification of critical residues of a protein or optimization of protein function, such as enhancing expression levels, protein stability and activity, or interaction with desired binding partners. Conventional methods for creating such libraries suffer from limited control over the codons introduced and variants can incur significant codon bias and even nonsense mutations. This results in a large library with over, underrepresented or incomplete variants, causing massive downstream screening efforts for researchers into capturing the entire variation of the library. We have developed a new method for creating variant libraries by our advanced semiconductor-based electrochemical oligonucleotide synthesis platform, which controls the mutated codons precisely without frequency bias. This novel technology builds a well-designed library containing all desired variants with unbiased distribution, minimizing the screening burden and saving valuable time and effort.
