ȲÀϵΠ(Æ÷Ç×°ø°ú´ëÇб³ »ý¸í°úÇаú) Ildoo Hwang did his Ph.D. at University of Maryland, College Park in 1999 and his postdoc with Jen Sheen at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He is a professor at Department of Life Sciences, Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) since 2002. His laboratory has made key contributions to our understanding of cytokinin signaling during plant growth and development and cross-talks among different plant hormones and environmental stimuli. His laboratory has elucidated the molecular mechanism underlying cytokininmediated plant senescence and revealed the novel function of histidine kinases involved in cytokinin signaling during vascular bundle development. Prof. Hwang and colleagues also revealed a crosstalk of cytokinin with defense signal in which a cytokinin-specific transcription factor directly controls the expression of defense-related genes with the coordination of salicylic acid-signaling component in plant defense response against a bacterial pathogen. Recently, his laboratory has focused on elucidation of hormonal cross-talks in lateral root development, epigenomic regulation of priming-induced defense response, and hydraulic regulation of water transport in the xylem network.
