Introduction to Korea Bio Data Station (K-BDS)
Korea Bio Data Station (K-BDS) is a new bioinformatics infrastructure to collect, curate, store, and provide diverse kinds of biological data generated from government funded projects. Based on 53 meta-data standard formats established in 2020, the K-BDS aims to collect data from diverse fields including genomics, proteomics, microbiomes, metabolomics, pharmacogenomics, images, phenotypes, preclinical and clinical studies. It also aims to provide cloud computing resources to meet the needs of researchers for big data analytics. The K-BDS platform is established and maintained by KOBIC and KISTI. In this talk, I will briefly introduce the current status and future plans of the K-BDS platform as a new national bioinformatics infrastructure of Korea.
A Korea Bio Data Station (K-BDS) Platform for Utilizing Bio Data
As data utilization has emerged as the core of innovation in scientific and technological research, countries around the world are working hard to collect and utilize bio-research data. Due to the continuous development of life phenomenon research technology, the amount of bio data generated every year is increasing exponentially. It is necessary to establish a data platform that can collect and utilize research data produced in national R&D projects. KISTI establishes a data station platform that collects, registers, provides, and utilizes research data produced by R&D projects. The data station platform consists of a computing infrastructure for data collection, registration, storage, provide and analysis, and a software platform for data management, search, visualization, and data analysis.
